Prophetik, now in its ninth year, kept to its all-sustainable fashion reputation that it has built and maintained for their new season collection at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
Designer Jeff Garner pulled off another beautifully crafted collection of both menswear and womenswear.
The show, named Courtly Love, paid tribute to Princess Grace, who Garner used as his main inspiration for the collection. The venue could not have been more perfect for such a Victorian-inspired selection of designs as the catwalk was faintly lit by soft pink lights resembling French fancies.
The audience were introduced to the beginning of the show as a violinist exploded on to the catwalk and welcomed the first model through the power of her playing. Playing with the story of Princess Grace and her stable boy, models filled the show with elegant designs finished with the most exquisite precision and incredible attention to detail.
Black and cream lace draped softly over strapless dresses in glistening white fabric. Black floor length gowns in raw silk brushed the gleaming catwalk and rustled in time with each step. Embellished lace chokers and chunky costume jewellery hung from the models’ necks while the teal eye make-up, by The Body Shop, brought out the gorgeous shades of peach and pastel pink of the designs.
The country-girl glamour continued with maroon quilted peplum jackets and layered skirts with waist clinching corsets. Delicate floral dresses in cream and rusty orange added a softer tone and accentuated the feeling of a courtship blossoming behind hay barns.
The male models’ appearance moved swiftly from the innocence of the stable boy to the dandy gentlemen, wearing a soft grey tailcoat and a burnt red shirt; matching the colours of the flowers in the designs worn by the female models. The look was soon steered back in time and as the models kept on coming, so did the Victorian feeling which is always present throughout a Prophetik show.
Delicate summer dresses became fitted, in golds and blacks, with a skater skirt silhouette and halter necks which particularly stood out. The show ended with a finale dress crafted from peace silk and naturally shed ostrich feathers which formed a playful bounce as it billowed behind the model.
Known for his Victorian inspired designs, Garner executed another strikingly beautiful show and it certainly lived up to the sky high expectations that have been formed from the previous Prophetik shows.
