To celebrate New York Fashion Week, TellusFashion’s Designer of the Week is our new favourite from the city that never sleeps.
KV was founded in 2009 by the Parsons graduate Kristi Vosbeck.
Her lady-like dresses have serious glamour and ooze ‘cherchez la femme’. As well as Hollywood starlets, Kristi is inspired by Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen.
Our top choice for the week is the Elizabeth dress, for which Elizabeth Taylor is the muse. The black, strapless corset dress has a tulle skirt over a crinoline petticoat for added swoosh to your step.
Kristi says her pieces should be worn to: “parties, galleries, and very special occasions, by women who want to flaunt and flirt.”
There seems no better dress to wear to a stylish exhibition opening with champagne and canapés, full of trendy New Yorkers.
However, It seems to evoke escapism from the New York life. It is not utilitarian like typical New York style but provides a fresh look for the princess inside us all.
The label has previously been featured on the front post of the New York Post and this Saturday Kristi presents her autumn/winter 12 collection at the off-schedule event Designers at the Jumeirah Essex House. We can’t wait to see it.
