There were tears of happiness backstage as the Merit Award winner, Phoebe English, celebrated her catwalk show on evening one of London Fashion Week.

“It’s really exciting, it’s a really wonderful opportunity to do my own thing and put on my own show,” she said afterwards.

The models were cheering and hugging the young designer too proving their admiration for the collection. One model, Vanessa, said: “It’s really, really simple but it really works.”

The make-up look, created by The Body Shop, was simple and fresh. Make-up artist Claire revealed that the look was only finalised today. She said: “the make-up is very clean, fresh, shows off the skin, nice groomed brushed up eyebrows and some gloss on the eyelids. A bit of gloss on the centre of the lips too.”

Tom Berry, part of the creative team behind Phoebe English said: “Phoebe is going to create her true English style with a bit of naughty, kinkiness and rubber.”

The primarily black collection featured black dresses with see-through rubber panelling and then finishing with eye-popping pink dresses in similar styles with ice skater skirts and patent leather lattice work.

Phoebe has a supportive team behind her for what is a momentous moment in her career. As the lights dimmed just before the models walked out she turned to her stylist and said: “I’m scared. Will you hold my hand?”
